Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) is a worldwide, non-denominational, spiritual organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920. The shrine, located in Pacific Palisades, was to serve as the preservation of Yogananda’s writings and teachings on meditation, including Kriya Yoga and to be a place of worship.

Every Sunday Bodhi Casa attends a meditation service located at the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine. The facility is a tranquil environment for our men to enrich their practice of meditation with a guided hour-long service. After the meditation service is complete, we take a stroll around the Lake to take in the beautiful scenery of the Mahatma Gandhi World Peace Memorial where a portion of Gandhi’s ashes is enshrined. Meditation is a vital part of Alcoholics Anonymous twelve steps, we believe it is vital to have in the weekly routine. Our time at the Lake Shrine cultivates mindfulness and a still mind for the week ahead for the men in transitional living at Bodhi Casa.

“…you realize that all along the way there was something tremendous within you, and you did not know it….” Paramahansa Yogananda
